Steve Luongo to Speak at MIRA
Aphex connects acclaimed drummer, composer, and producer to next generation of sound pros
Burbank, CA—March 20, 2012—Aphex is proud to announce that it is bringing internationally acclaimed drummer, songwriter, record producer, and filmmaker, Steve Luongo, to speak at St. Petersburg College’s Music Industry/Recording Arts Program (MIRA) on March 26, 2012. Luongo will be the first of several guest speakers brought to the college through Aphex’s new Education In Music initiative and Aphex’s alliance with MIRA. Luongo will not only lecture, he’ll also perform for students and share stories and insight learned from a music career that spans five decades.
And what a colorful career it has been! Luongo’s credits reads like a “who’s who” in the music industry. He has worked with The Who’s John Entwistle, Todd Rundgren, Alan Parsons, Billy Squier, and Jack Bruce of Cream, to name a few.
The insight and inspiration that Luongo is sure to bring students illustrates Aphex’s commitment to its collaboration with MIRA. “We’ve put a lot of time and thought into our alliance with MIRA, and have worked closely with the faculty to shape a new model for how brands can partner with learning institutions,” said David Wiener, president and CEO of Aphex. “Tapping into our industry contacts—artists, sound engineers, producers, even other brands—to bring professionals who can share invaluable real world experience and advice with students is just one of the many ways we hope to benefit MIRA.”
