  INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING
( IF YOU LIKE, PRINT THIS PAGE SO YOU CAN REFER TO IT AND CHECK OFF EACH STEP)

1. Download the .EXE executable file and save on your Hard drive (make a temporary folder - we suggest calling it "DOWNLOADS") (do not click "Open"). Click here: 1788A_UploaderB2.exe  (76k)

2. Connect the 1788A’s RS232 port to your PC by a NULL MODEM cable with 1788A’s power OFF.

3. Run the exe file on your computer and follow the instructions.

This concludes the installation. If you need additional help please contact the factory.

1788A HARDWARE REMOTE firmware upgrade
SOFTWARE RELEASED MAY 28 2008

1. Download the Zip file here: Aphex_1788A-RC_uploader_1-3.zip

2. Setup your PC's fixed IP address as 192.168.20.5

3. Connect the remote to the same hub/switcher/router as the PC.

4. Power cycle the remote while holding the two test tone buttons located at the right side of the remote, notice the remote will boot with all the LEDs lit.

5. Run the attached firmware update software. While updating, the remote's LEDs will blink, which is normal.

6. Power Cycle the remote again and you are done.

Setting the Fixed IP addresses and bank ID:
 SOFTWARE RELEASED JANUARY 2008 

To set the fixed IP for the 1788A:
1. Press local control.
2. Press both tone buttons and channel 1 on the PRE.
3. Rotate the encoding wheel to change the display from DHCP to IP. Depending on your net number, the fixed ips will be 192.168.1.64 for net number 1, 192.168.1.65 for net number 2, etc.
4. Press the local control again to save the setting.
5. Power cycle the unit.

To set the fixed IP for the remote:
1. Press both tone buttons and channel 1 on the remote.
2. Notice the main display should have DHCP, rotate the bigger encoding wheel, and the display will change into ip20, ip21.... If you only have one remote, ip20 will suffice. Otherwise, you can set one as ip20, the next ip21, ect. Be aware that IP address for the units are actually 192.168.1.20,  192.168.1.21.... The net mask is 255.255.255.0 and the gateway is 192.168.1.1.
3. Press any other channel number to save the setting, you might notice the LEDs flash for a second, which is normal.
4. Power cycle the unit.

To change the bank ID on the remote:
1. Press both tone buttons and channel 3.
2. Change to the desired bank, bank 1 controls unit 1-16, bank 2 controls unit 17-32, ect.
3. Press another channel button to save the changes.
4. Power cycle

INSTALLING XPORT ROM FOR 1788A PREAMPLIFIERS
(PRINT THIS PAGE SO YOU CAN REFER TO IT AND CHECK OFF EACH STEP)

1. Download these two files, and save on your Hard drive (make a temporary folder - we suggest calling it "DOWNLOADS") (do not click "Open")

NOTE: Right click each link and select  "Save Target As..."

NOTE: The ROM code to be installed into the Xport module is XPTEXV12_005_01.ROM

2. Start with all 1788A's Preamps and Hardware Remote Controllers powered OFF.
           PC and LAN related components are powered ON.

3. Using Windows Explorer, install the Microsoft Net Framework (dotnetfx) application.

4. Unzip the DeviceInstaller36.zip file into another TEMP folder on the PC's Hard drive. (You might want to make a second folder underneath the "DOWNLOADS" folder called "UNZIPPED")

5. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the TEMP folder and double click on the file "Installer" to begin installation. Note: You may have to download System Software from Microsoft depending on PC Operating system. A new folder "Lantronix" will be created in the Programs folder by the installation.

6. Save the "xptex.rom" file into this newly created folder then close Explorer.

7. Make sure all 1788A(s) are connected to LAN along with PC. 1788A(s) are the last devices to power on.

8. From Desktop: Start, Programs, Lantronix, Deviceinstaller, Deviceinstaller (make sure not to open DeviceInstaller Help)

9. Click on "Search" Icon. Xports should be listed within 5 - 10 seconds.

10. If not, or "nodevices" message appears, check power and LAN connections on all 1788A(s), Network, Switchers, Routers, etc. If any module LED appears in RED, cycle (OFF-ON) all 1788A Power Switch(es) then click "Search" Icon again

11. Highlight a device ( 'Xport-03' ) in the list by clicking on it. When you do, more Icons will appear. Status should be 'ONLINE'.

12. Click on "UPGRADE" and the wizard will lead you through a 5 step procedure.

13. Step 1 Choose "Create a custom installation by specifying individual files" then click on "Next>"

14. Step 2 Browse to the previously saved file "xptex.rom" then click on "Open" then click on "Next>"

15. Step 3 click on "Next>"

16. Step 4 click on "Next>"

17. Step 5 Software will now load to Xport. Wait for progress bar to disappear, Close Wizard

18. Repeat Steps 1-5 for additional Xport-03 modules.

19. Cycle (OFF-ON) 1788A Power Switch(es)

This concludes the installation.
